Water proof face paint! What's that all about?

We all understand the summertime struggle. Hot and sweaty days mixed with the fun of the occasional splash pad or pool party. Face painting typically isnt the most practical entertainment for these days, but here in the PNW it's our best time to shine because it's not raining! To help beat the heat, we've invested in Body Color Cosmetic's new line of silicone-based face paints. These are special and unique because this is the ONLY company that is making silicone-based face paints at the time. Before that, we only had alcohol based paints which lack vibrancy and could sting the skin of little ones.
Silicone-based face paints take longer to dry than typical face painting. The application can be a bit more finicky and because of the longer dry time, layering can take longer than normal. We use the manufacturers silicone activator that acts as the "water" for the paints, and we rinse our tools using rubbing alcohol. We can produce essentially all of the same designs as we could with the water-based face paints. I often combine my StarBlends powder face paint and glitter cremes, both of which are water-resistant and add a softness and sparkle to the design. Because of this dry time, I recommend children avoid the water for 5-10 minutes after getting painted and stick around to use my fan if needed.
I love to host water parties and offer kids the fun chance to enjoy the water activities AND have a cool face painting or arm/leg painting too. Glitter tattoos are also water proof and they last up to 7 days! We use vinyl stencils and a special body glue that dries ultra tacky. After the glue is dry, we apply fine glitter that is safe for the skin onto the stenciled glue removing any excess glitter. The result is a beautiful design in sparkling colors of your choice that will stay vibrant throughout the week. The drying process occurs before application of glitter allowing kids to jump in the water immediately after.
